You are already thinking what the heck is this? and you would probably be right! Way back in 2024 (yeah it really does feel like way back already) SUNO launched. For those who don't know, SUNO is a generative AI music creation tool that allows you to enter lyrics, styles, prompts and such and it creates music.
[and I know some people have an immediate reaction to get angry, throw up, run and hide or shake their head at the merest mention of AI and that's okay too. I'm not trying to hoax or cheat anyone and I'm not making a dime from AI so hear me out....]
So once SUNO got good enough to produce reasonably coherent songs, I started writing lyrics that were Second Life related as a bit of an "in-joke" among friends and over time this has evolved into a regular thing where I write at least two songs a week, one for "Happy Mondays" and one for "Katchoo Choovanski's Friday Night at Suckerpunch Sally's" venue. I thought it would be fun to share some of these songs with you here. So here we go:
- TEA! The Musical - my first attempt at a whole 'soundtrack' of AI created songs. My imagining of what a whole music show might be like if it were about tea (oh, how British of me!)
- Sia's Robots - our own Sia Aurora loves making stuff in Second Life, not least robots. We're all convinced she is building a robot army to take over the galaxy. This is a catchy little Kraftwerk inspired song about just that!
- BOOM! - one of many songs I have created for Happy Monday, our regular go-to event on a Monday evening presented by Janie Janus. A romping 'live' track inspired by Runrig, Sinéad O'Connor and The Cranberries (perhaps). This one has been lauded as "One of the Best" so hope you enjoy it.
- Oh Ruth! [Remastered] - for those who have been in Second Life long enough to remember Ruth, the original default female avatar.
- Buy Me The FatPack! - about Second Life's obsession with clothes and the perfect avatar look!
- Pirates on the Blake Sea - a quirky sea shanty about life on the virtual waves.
- Gacha is Back! - they banned Gacha! chance games a while ago, then they brought them back...
- Here We Go!! - a Monday Night rap in the style of Salt-n-Pepa (maybe?)
- Pretty Girl Circle [1960s LP version] - a catchy Merseybeat style Friday Night song trying to emulate the sound of old vinyl (kids, ask your parents...)
- Love Comes to Those Who Care - not Second Life themed but good all the same :)
